Billing and minutes
How interview minutes work
Interviews run on minutes: voice interviews use their actual length, billed per second; chat interviews use a flat 4 minutes.
One credit is one interview minute. You get minutes from the free trial, a plan or a minute pack, and every interview in any of your workspaces uses them.
Voice interviews
- Billed for the time the interview actually ran, per second.
- To start, a session needs at least 5 minutes available, or its full length if that’s shorter. If you have less than the full session length, the session is shortened up front to the whole minutes you have.
- A session never runs past its length, so it never costs more than that (plus up to a minute of wrap-up).
Chat interviews
A flat 4 minutes each, however long the participant takes to type. It’s free if they answered fewer than 3 times.
Sessions that don’t cost anything
- Interviews shorter than a minute.
- Sessions where the participant never spoke or never started.
- Sessions that failed on our side.
Which minutes are used first
Minutes that expire soonest go first, then free minutes before paid ones, then the oldest.

The Billing page lists every interview with its date, study, participant and minutes, and you can export it as CSV. The header shows how many minutes you have left.
Drafting and checking guides, and generating or sharing findings, are free.
